What it answers
What the plugin tells you
- A Go, Maybe, or Skip verdict with its score
- The best bite window for the day, and why it’s the best
- High and low tide times from the nearest NOAA station
- Wind, moon phase, and sunrise for the day
- Any active NWS marine alert, called out first
What it doesn’t do
What the plugin leaves out
- Anything beyond tomorrow. For the full week, use the 7-day forecast on the site.
- Species or what’s biting.
- Spots outside the Virginia-to-Florida coast.
- Navigation or boating safety advice. It is not for navigation.
Privacy
No account, no device location
The plugin doesn’t ask for an account and never requests your device’s location. It only sees the place name you type in the chat, or, when you ask about where you are, the coarse location ChatGPT shares. Read the full privacy section →

Frequently asked questions
Is the ChatGPT plugin free?
Yes. There's no account, no sign-up, and nothing to buy. Ask ChatGPT about a covered town and it answers.
Which coast does it cover?
The same coverage as the app and site: the Atlantic and Gulf coasts from Virginia through Florida, across 136 towns.
Why did it say Skip when the weather looked fine on my phone?
The verdict weighs tide movement, pressure trend, light, wind, and any active NWS marine alert together, not just today's sky. A calm-looking day can still score low if the tide is dead or an advisory is in effect.
Can ChatGPT give tide times without the plugin?
Not reliably. ChatGPT has no built-in tide table, so without a plugin or a live lookup it tends to guess. The plugin supplies NOAA tide predictions for the nearest station so the answer is grounded in real data.
How do I get the 7-day forecast?
The plugin only answers for today and tomorrow. For the full week, open the town's page on the free web forecast linked above.
